Class #1 The Site Your House Sits On

The health of your home mainly depends on the foundation it sits on.  A solid foundation will prevent water leaks, mold, mildew, and visits from unwanted creatures.  Brian Schnee will teach you how to inspect the site your house sits to become proactive to all unwanted situations.  TLC preventative measures will be discussed.

Class #2 Your Home's Exterior

Sitting in your living room with an umbrella doesn't make a lot of sense. Is your home experiencing rain leaks through roofs and chimney flashings, drafts through windows and doors.  Which is the best siding to use? Brian Schnee will discuss the causes of the above issues and and suggest repairs and replacement materials.  TLC preventative measures will be discussed.

Class #3 Your Home's Interior

Your home's doors are not closing without a bang,  you have noticed cracks in your ceilings and maybe your walls, your home's beautiful wooden floors are in disrepair, you stepped through a rotten board in your outside deck, maybe, its time for a paint job?  Brian Schnee will address the causes of these issues and  will suggest how to make the repairs. Replacement materials for your home's will be presented. TLC preventative measures will be discussed.

Class #4 Your Home's Insulation

Is your home adequately insulated?  Are your walls cold to the touch, do you feel drafts, where is the greatest loss of heat in your home, when was the last time you visited your attic, basement or crawlspace?  Brian Schnee will discuss where the greatest heat loss in your home is and the benefits of insulating your home. To become proactive, the class will develop a “to-do list”, designed to tackle the insulation problems you may  have. Brian will also demonstrate how to install insulation properly.

The meter bill, a crucial aspect of home improvement, is the responsibility of the utility company.

Class #5 Your Home's Electrical System

Is your electrical service providing enough power to your home? Do your lights dim when the refrigerator or A/C unit goes on,  are your kitchen and bathroom outlets protected with GFCI outlets? Where should you install smoke/co detectors? What is the NEC, does my electrical subcontractor need to know this? Brian Schnee teaches us how important an understanding of the the electrical system in our house is and how important it is to be proactive in maintaining it.

Class #6 Your Home's Plumbing System

My kitchen sink water isn’t draining, the curved pipe under the sink is leaking, what am I supposed to do?  My toilet wont stop running, I turned it off.  I cannot stop the drip in the bath tub.  I called this guy, he wants to rip the wall openHELP!!!

Brian Schnee discusses these problems and many more and presents solutions. To become proactive, the class will develop a “to-do list”, designed to prevent  future plumbing problems from occurring.

Class #7 Your Home's Heating System

My boiler never shuts down and the house is very coldwhy is it that some radiators are cold and  others are hot, should my chimney be lined? Why is it that  my shower water get cold before I am done, I do not like this!!

Brian Schnee answers all these questions and more in class #7 and I  explains the good, the bad and the ugly about our heating and hot water systems. To become proactive, the class will develop a “to-do list”, designed to prevent  future heating and domestic hot water problems from occurring.

 I need to replace my window unit, what information do I need to to buy a new one? I want to put central air conditioning in my house, but I do not want to install ductwork, what can I do?Brian Schnee will discuss the components that make up air conditioning units, how they work, and how to maintain them properly.  To become proactive, the class will develop a “to-do list”, designed to prevent  future air conditioning problems from occurring.

Are you tired of the light switch not working, how about changing the outlet that just doesn’t work anymore?
In this virtual workshop, Brian Schnee will teach you how to: wire a basic light switch where the power enters the switch; wire an outlet; strip wire; connect a male end to a wire; and understand the meaning and importance of the colors of the different wires.
